PROBLEM SLOVING: BENDING MACHINE
The problem
A
customer of us asked for a consultance on a tube bending machine. This machine
had an hydraulic system with a arm that turned while the tube advanced, pushed
from an hydraulic piston. The combination between advancing velocity and arm
turning gave birth to a deteminated curve. Obviously if one of the two
parametres varied, the curve would not be longer equal one to the other. Our
customer told us that the machine, after a time laps of one-two ours after the
starting-up, was no able to maintain the same curve.

The cause
We
decided to analize the fluid level contamination and we found that it was
highly contaminated from solid particles, even in presence of a filtration
system. The filter installed was a 25 micron in wire mesh media, so a nominal
filtration.
The solution
We
decided to clean up the fluid with an external 3micron absolute filtration
system, after we reached a suitable contamination level, we replaced the
25microns, with a 5microns absolute rating filter. After this cleaning and
replacement, the machine started working correctly.
