LUBROREFRIGERATION FILTRATION FABRICS

The problem

Choosing the right fabric for a lubrorefrigeration filtration system, is not so simple as it could seems. There’re several fabrics on the market, the most common are the ones made with viscose and the ones made with polypropylene. Viscose tends to filter easily water based fluids so it’s used for these fluids, polypropylene tends to reject water so it’s used to filter oils, aggressive fluids or in applications where a strong texture in fabric is required.

The cause

To utilize the wrong fabric, it means to use more fabric, since if fluid pass with more difficulty, the filtration system will think that the filter fabric is clogged, so it’ll ask for more fabric, increasing consequently the filtration costs.

The solution

How is it possible to distinguish the fabrics)? Viscose based fabric is obtained mixing viscose fibers and glue, so it’s smooth and neat and if placed afore a lamp, you’ll see a disordered disposition of fibers; polypropylene instead, is obtained by thermo-joining it, so its surface is blipped, where the blipping represents the fabric thermos-joining.
