PROBLEM SOLVING: SAWDUST IN HYDRAULIC OIL
The problem
A
plastic production plant claimed several problems of valve cloggings. After
some analysis made by us and by +Controils Srl We found an high wood sawdust
particle concentration. How it was possible to find wood particles inside a
plant where only plastic is produced and transformed?
The cause
We
considered all the opportunities, from something dropped inside the plant
during the assembly to a poor quality of the supplied oil. None of these cases
was the right one. We discovered the cause only when we found that one of the mechanics, sometime used to fill the reservois using a bucket took wood carpentry section of the firm, detached on another site but near to the place where the oil barrels were kept.
The solution
We
solved this problem blocking the filling plug and installing a fast hydraulic
system connected to a filter cartridge, able to bring an oil barrel, so to fill
a reservoir. No more problems happened in this firm due to wood dust.
