PROBLEM SOLVING: BACKFLOW FILTRATION
The problem
One of the
biggest problem in hydraulic transmision, is the oil that feeds the hydraulic
motors. In these machines, the flow of hydraulic oil could goes from A to B and
vice versa.

The cause
After some
working time, the oil becomes so dirty that all components (pump, valves and
motor) will clog up. To avoid this problem, a filtration system must be
applied, but not a simple line pressure filter, since it’d work with flow from
A to B but not from B to A (the filter cartridge will blow-up if flow goes in
contrary way).
The solution
To solve the problem that we talked about last time, there are 2 ways:
1) The most economic, is to use a pressure line filter with a back flow valve, in this case the flow is filtered from A to B and can go back from B to A without being filtered
2) more expensive but more realible, is to adopt a Graetz Bridge
filter system that permits the flow to be filtered both from A to B than to B
from A. Eventually is possible to build it using 4 check valves and a standard
pressure line filter.
